Texas License to Carry Course
Classroom & Range

This is the course required by the state to obtain a Texas License to Carry (“LTC”). The State mandated curriculum is covered with the time guidelines provided by the State.  We’ll teach you the baseline fundamentals required to carry a concealed handgun legally, responsibly, and safely. The course will prepare students for both the written and shooting proficiency tests.  After successfully completing the course, you will receive a Certificate of Training form (LTC 104) that you can submit to the State to prove you have met the training requirement.

 

Topics covered:

 

  • Laws that relate to weapons and the use of deadly force,

  • Handgun use and safety, including use of restraint holsters and methods to ensure the secure carrying of openly carried handguns,

  • Non-violent dispute resolution,

  • Proper storage practices for handguns with an emphasis on storage practices that eliminate the possibility of accidental injury to a child.

Course Duration: 4-6 hours classroom, 1-2 hours range including proficiency test.  (Mandated by law)

 

Cost: $100, separate range fees may apply, typically $20 payable in cash to the range.

 

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY. Cancellation for refund, less 3% (cc fee) or for application to a later class is accepted up to 72 hours prior to the start of class. Refunds can take time to process through the credit card vendor and are not immediate. Cancellation within 72 hours is for credit for a future class ONLY.

 

NO SHOWS, NO REFUND. NO EXCEPTIONS

 

Required Equipment: For the LTC course, you’ll need a reliable handgun (revolver or semi-automatic) and at least 50 rounds of ammunition. You’ll also need eye protection and ear protection. If you don’t have your own gun, ammo, or protective gear, WTHT can provide loaner equipment (semi-automatic only) and ammunition for you, with advance notice.  If you have questions about your shooting ability to pass the range qualification test, please contact us in advance.  You may want to consider a private lesson or the Handgun Primer class first.
